Eczema

Eczema also is known as atopic eczema or atopic dermatitis is a dry, scaly, crusting and sometimes draining skin disorder. It can affect anyone from different age groups and race.  The common areas that are affected by eczema are the elbows, back of the knees, lips, nose, eyebrows

1. Seborrheic dermatitis- dermatitis on the scalp also known as cradle cap
2. Atopic dermatitis- red, oozing, itchy, crusted lesions on the limbs, trunk, face, and scalp  
3. Contact dermatitis- inflammation caused by an immune response that causes allergic irritants and skin sensitivity 
4. Juvenile plantar dermatosis- redness and swelling on the foot and between the toes
5. Stasis dermatitis- chronic venous insufficiency that causes inflammation of the skin 
6. Asteatotic eczema- common in adults.  It is an itchy, scaling, with deep cracks that are also called "dried river bed" due to the fact they are deep dry linear patterns.  Most common in the winter months and loss of water on the skin, exposure to harsh detergents, or irritants 
7. Dyshidrotic eczema- itchy and small vesicular dermatitis on the palmar or plantar skin, fingers, and toes
8. Nummular eczema- itchy and chronic inflammatory skin disease that causes lesions
