Welcome! Thank you for your interest in attending the 3rd Annual Self-Care Self-Love Day Retreat. This year we added a twist. Natural Love Skincare Products by JJ has partnered with Healthy, Energy, Actively, Living (HEAL).
From birth we receive messages from our family, communities and media about what our bodies should look like. We’re told skinny is pretty, plump is unattractive, we need big butts and full breasts to be considered beautiful. When we don’t believe we’re meeting the standards, we spend our lives working towards it. However, since beauty standards are constantly changing, we’ll be working forever, never believing we’re good enough. This issue has led to the development of body dysmorphia in millions of women around the world and great percentage of them have taken drastic measures to “fix themselves” which has led to greater issues and even death.
Jhenane Joseph is a Registered Nurse, Certified Clinical Aromatherapy Practitioner, and Owner of Natural Love Skincare Products by JJ. An organization dedicated to providing organic wellness products for nurturing beautiful, healthy skin. She began hosting this Self-Love, Self-Care event 3 years ago to bring awareness to the challenges women of color face when it comes to practicing self-care and maintaining their wellness. Jhenane was motivated to start this movement because of her own struggles with practicing self-care. Along with spreading awareness, providing education, and resources, Jhenane is creating a safe space for women to open up and experience a transformation to their healthiest life. Over the past 2 years, this event has served and supported over 200 women citywide and we have a goal of serving 100’s more.
Carmen Blyden, a Confidence and Wellness Coach and Founder of Healthy Energy Actively Living (HEAL); an organization dedicated to teaching women how to break free from fear and self-doubt so they can live and lead with confidence. Carmen is passionate about teaching women what it takes to fall in love with themselves and build confidence and this topic is especially relevant to her because body dysmorphia is something she struggled with for years after experiencing changes in her body due to childbearing. After years of living with body shame, she did the inner work for shifting mind and changing the way she sees herself.
